Flow

This space is dedicated to the selection and commentary of relevant readings in our work (and beyond). Inspired by the idea of a intellectual curatorship, we seek to offer works that broaden horizons and generate debate. Our goal is to build a living archive of ideas that enriches both specialists and those approaching these topics for the first time. An authentic flow of links, notes, books, fortuitous and unexpected encounters in networks that are worth sharing.

The disputed past

Conversation about the book The past is not dead. Conversations with historians that changed the way we see the world (21st century, Buenos Aires, 2025), with its author, the Argentine Mariano Schuster. The book dialogues with the work of ten fundamental historians: Peter Burke, Roger Chartier, Robert Darnton, Natalie Z. Davis, Sheila Fitzpatrick, Emilio Gentile, Carlo Ginzburg, Ian Kershaw, Sheila Rowbotham and Joan W. Scott.

The colloquium will take place on Thursday, May 7, from 18:30, at the School of Labor Relations of the UCM, in San Bernardo Street, 49 (Noviciado metro).

First chapter podcast

Our group premieres the first chapter of Voces en Contienda. Led by Gomer Betancor Nuez and Daniel Martínez Lamas, we investigate the dynamics of tourist massification and its impact on housing, territory and daily life. To do this, we spoke with Noelia Sánchez, spokesman for Ben Magec, Ecologists in Action in the Canary Islands, and Ernest Cañada, researcher and social communicator specialized in tourism and social justice.

Last session of the course

Next week we will hold the last session of our seminar in this course. In it we will discuss the paper ‘The discursive strategy of the EZLN before the Government of López Obrador in Mexico (2018-2024)’, by our colleague Andrea Cesaroni, a doctoral student at the UCM and a member of MOVICON. Jimena Ñáñez Ortiz and Daniel Martínez-Lamas will play discussants. See you Thursday at 18:00 at the School of Labor Relations!
